When thinking of BlackBerry, most of us feel nostalgic and remember the days of the physical Qwerty keyboard. Before the dawn of Android and iPhones, there was BlackBerry! A mobile that was, and still is, targeted towards the business personnel and people who need a secure phone. But its lack of adaptability made it a victim of the vicious circle of time. But since its TCL acquisition, BlackBerry has been flexible in adjusting to the new world. They have launched smartphones with a touchscreen, running on Android. The BlackBerry Priv, Keyone, Key2, Motion, and Evolve X are the fine examples of the change.

BlackBerry, the same legendary mobile device manufacturer, is set to make its official debut here in Nepal. Saakha Group has been appointed as the authorized distributor of BlackBerry in Nepal. As per our sources, the company will debut in Nepal with the BlackBerry Key2 starting next week (maybe at the end of this week). Other phones will follow shortly! But before we get into the details, let’s us take a look at what the debuting phone has to offer.

The BlackBerry Key2 packs a 4.5-inch Full HD display (1080 x 1620) with an aspect ratio of 3:2. The display is an IPS panel which comes protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Sitting below the display is the iconic BlackBerry Qwerty keyboard. Users nostalgic with the full keypad can get its taste here. Having a physical keyboard on a phone is a feeling you have to experience. It definitely is unique in the present!

Under the hood, the Key2 rocks an octa-core Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 processor along with the Adreno 512 GPU. The SoC is backed by 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 256GB.

In the camera department, the BlackBerry Key2 packs a dual-camera set up made by two 12MP lenses. The phone also has a f/2.0 8MP front camera for all your social media ready selfies. At the software front, the Key2 runs on an almost stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone also sports a fingerprint scanner, at the front, embedded into the spacebar key. This is a clever way to incorporate the sensor!

And finally powering the device all up is a 3500mAh non-user removable battery. This without a doubt will be enough to get users through a day of usage on a single charge. And if the battery does run out, there is the inclusion of Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C port to get a faster charging time.

BlackBerry Key 2 is an amazing smartphone that hits you in the face with nostalgia. Having a phone with a full keyboard is something unique to the present context. Although for everyone, the phone is especially targeted towards people who value security and elegance over everything else. People like Business Personnel and Company Executives will find the phone fitting of their needs!

Talking about the cost, the phone will be priced similarly to the international market with the addition of the usual tariffs. Since the international price is $650, the Nepali conversion would be around Rs 75,000. In our opinion, this is a fair pricing for the phone! Although, a brand like BlackBerry is not here to compete for pricing but rather to cater to the needs of its target audience.
