HTC unveiled their latest mid-tier smartphone for 2018, the HTC U11 Eyes. The phone is the successor to the previous Desire Eye, which was well known for its selfie shooter. Following in its footstep, the phone now offers a dual front-facing camera!. Not only the camera but the U11 Eyes brings improvement in many sectors. Let’s dive deeper into the phone and see for ourselves what it truly has to offer.
The HTC U11 Eyes packs a 6.0-inch Full-HD (1080*2160) LCD3 display with an 18:9 near bezel-less design. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is edged out by a 2.5D glass. Under the hood, the U11 Eyes packs an octa-core Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 processor along with the Adreno 510 GPU. The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 400GB.
That is a lot of storage for a phone to be able to expand towards!
The phone also supports dual-sim cards but only at the expense of the memory slot. And all this goodness comes encased in an IP67 rated dust and water-resistant body.
In the camera department, the HTC U11 Eyes packs a dual-front camera set up made by two f/2.2 5MP lenses. This addition helps HTC bring the popular bokeh/portrait mode to the front shooter. The phone also has a f/1.7 12MP rear camera backed by OIS and a dual-LED flash. And just sitting below the rear shooter is a fingerprint scanner embedded into the phone’s back panel. Not only the digit biometrics but the U11 Eyes also comes with a Facial Recognition.
Now you can unlock the phone with your face!
Moving on, at the software front, the phone runs HTC Sense UI based on Android 8.0 Oreo. And finally powering the device all up is a 3930mAh non-user removable battery. This paired with Quick Charge 3.0 will make for a prolonged battery life.
The HTC U11 Eyes comes in three different color options- Solar Red, Amazing Silver, and Ceramic Black. The phone will retail for a price of around $500 when and if it launches in countries across the world. As of now, the device has just been launched in Hongkong!
