Huawei Technologies has launched their latest premium mid-range smartphone, the Huawei Nova 2i here in Nepal. The phone is quite different from other smartphones as it packs a total of 4 cameras, a pair on either side. Call Mobility, the official distributor of Huawei smartphones in Nepal has priced the phone at Rs 33,900. Here is all the phone has to offer for that price tag.
The Huawei Nova 2i takes on the recent trend of using an 18:9 aspect ratio display with an almost bezel-less look. This gives Huawei the opportunity to squeeze in a large 5.9 inch Full HD (1080*2160) IPS display in a body that is smaller to that of a phablet. Encasing this Gorilla Glass protected display is a sturdy aluminum shell. Under the hood, the 2i packs an octa-core Kirin 659 processor along with the Mali-T830GPU. All that silicon is backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone also supports storage expansion up to 128GB via a micro-sd card and is dual-sim compatible.
The 4 cameras present on either side of the Nova 2i is the key highlight of the device. The phone combines 16MP+2MP sensors on the rear and 13MP+2MP sensors on the front. This makes up for quite a package which is capable of shooting some amazing and bokehlicious pictures. And just sitting below the rear cameras is a fingerprint scanner embedded into the phone’s back panel. Other sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, and a gyroscope. Moving on to the software side of things, the Nova 2i runs EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. And finally powering the device all up is a 3340mAh non-user removable battery. The Huawei Nova 2i looks to be a compelling premium mid-tier smartphone that packs some great hardware and powerful internals. A smartphone with 4 cameras definitely is something new for the Nepalese market! But will this be enough to persuade people to buy the phone? And is it the best smartphone in the price segment?
