Nokia, at MWC 2018, has launched their latest budget-friendly smartphone- the Nokia 1. Unlike other budget offerings, the Nokia 1 runs Android Go based on Android 8.0 Oreo. For those unaware, Android Go is a stripped down version of Android meant to run on inexpensive, low-end devices with a limited amount of RAM (1GB), small storage, and processing power. The main idea of Android Go is to reduce the size of the OS and provide core features in a more fluid manner.
About Nokia 1
The Nokia 1 packs a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display (480×854) with a pixel density of 218PPI. Encasing the display along with other internals of the phone is a plastic chassis which looks durable. Under the hood, the Nokia 1 sports a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor along with the Mali-T720 GPU. The processor is backed by 1 GB of LPPDDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The memory of the phone can be further expanded via a micro-sd card up to 128GB. It also supports dual-sim cards and is 4G compatible. And all these goodness comes in an IP52 rated dust and splash resistant body.
In the camera department, the Nokia 1 rocks a 5MP rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. The phone also has a 2MP front-camera for all your social-media worthy selfies and video calls. Moving on, at the software front, the phone as mentioned earlier runs Android Go based on Android 8.0 Oreo. And finally powering this device all up is a 2150mAh user-removable battery. This coupled with the lower-res display will be more than enough to get users through a day of usage on a single charge.
