Samsung Galaxy J6 2018 Overview

Recently, Samsung launched their mid-tier “Galaxy J7 Duo” with dual rear camera setup. Specification-wise, the phone was decent but the phone was criticized for its same old 16:9 aspect ratio display. Now, the new mid-ranger, “Galaxy J6” houses a 720 x 1480 resolution HD+ Super AMOLED panel with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 294PPI.

Samsung Galaxy J6 2018 looks quite appealing in terms of design! The company packed it with an Infinity Display, which is usually seen in expensive handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S8/S9. Surrounding it are very thin bezels which looks very much like the Galaxy A6 Plus, launched a few weeks back.

In the camera department, the Galaxy J6 2018 has a 13MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9. The phone also has an 8MP front shooter boasting the same aperture of f/1.9. Both the front and rear cameras are accompanied by a single LED flash, making them capable of taking some decent photos in low light conditions. When most of the mid-tiers from brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Oppo come with a dual rear camera setup, the Galaxy J6 still offers a single rear camera. The device, however, features Face Unlock and AI-powered cameras, which is a great touch.

Powering the Galaxy J6 2018 is the same old in-house Exynos 7870 paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The Exynos 7870 is an octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU which is currently celebrating its 2nd anniversary. The phone comes with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage for 3GB RAM variant and 4GB RAM variant respectively, and support storage expansion up to 256GB via microSD card.

Moving on, the Galaxy J6 2018 runs Samsung Experience on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack support. The smartphone has a non-removable 3,000mAh battery and a micro-USB port for charging and data transfers. However, the device doesn’t come with fast charging support. The phone supports dual SIM card slots, Bixby voice assistant, Dolby Atmos, and a rear fingerprint sensor. In terms of physical dimensions, the Samsung Galaxy J6 measures 149.3 x 70.2 x 8.2mm and weighs in at 154 grams.
