Samsung Galaxy Watch Active has been officially launched alongside the Galaxy S10 phones in the Samsung Unpacked event. The watch costs around $199.99 and offers very similar features to the previous Galaxy Watch, minus the rotating bezel.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active Specifications
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active prioritizes the fitness features over other features that come with the smartwatch. The phone offers many tweaks with a new option to measure blood pressure. Other features that come with the device are automatic workout detection mode, heart rate sensor etc. This allows users to monitor stress levels and recommend breathing exercises when needed.
The watch looks a bit similar to 2018’s Galaxy Watch with a slimmer design. It, however, is cheaper and lacks the rotating bezel that came with previous Galaxy smartwatches. The watch has two buttons at the side and comes with a different metallic finish and a matching rubber band. The available colors for the Galaxy Watch Active are Black, Silver, Rose Gold, and Sea Green.
Similarly, the Galaxy Watch Active has a smaller 40mm watch face with no other option for sizes. It comes with a 1.1-inch color display with a 360×360 resolution that’s always on. The watch also shows different menus and interfaces that show time and various fitness data.
The device, like the previous Galaxy Watches, runs on Tizen-based OS called the Tizen 4.0.0.3. Similarly, it is also powered by the Exynos 9110 processor. This SoC is designed by Samsung for use in its smartwatches. It helps provide better performance and compatibility with the software. And finally, the phone runs on a 230mAh battery which is a bit small compared to the actual Galaxy Watch.

Galaxy Watch Active isn’t a direct replacement to the older Galaxy watches. It complements the whole lineup with a new design and an affordable price. Galaxy Watch Active is an exciting wearable gear that provides better options for consumers. The high prices of wearables have discouraged many from the idea of using a smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch Active could change that with its much better price.
