Xiaomi Redmi 5A launched in China for a price of CNY 599 which is almost 10,000 Nepalese Rupees. The phone is the latest budget offering from Xiaomi to be launched. It packs some minor upgrades compared to its predecessor but boasts an impressive 8 days worth of battery life. Here are all the things the phone brings to the table.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A packs a faux metallic body with a 5 inch HD IPS display sitting at its center. Under the hood, the phone sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The internal storage can be further expanded via a micro-sd card but only at the expense of the dual-sim support the phone offers.

The 5A, software wise, runs the latest version of MIUI i.e, MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. Some new functionality and iconography can be expected from the phone. In the camera side of things, the phone packs a f/2.2 13MP rear camera and a f/2.0 5MP front camera. The phone sadly, this time too, doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner which we would have loved to see in a budget smartphone of 2017. And finally powering this device all up is a 3000mAh non-user removable battery. Xiaomi claims that this phone will be able to last for an impressive 8days on a single charge. Though I am a bit skeptical about it, only time will tell if their claim holds true.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is a great budget smartphone that offers a lot for the price. That said, a fingerprint scanner would have made the deal even sweeter. Nonetheless, the 5A still is a great smartphone and will cater superbly to the needs of many people looking to buy a budget smartphone right now.
